1. Overview & Scope

Bright Sight Ventures LLC, doing business as Makomly ("Makomly," "we," "us," or "our"), is a Texas limited liability company that operates the Makomly platform, marketing website, and related software-as-a-service applications (collectively, the "Services").

Makomly provides event management, sanctuary visual seating, member directories, and accounting synchronization software specifically designed for synagogues, Jewish community centers, and non-profit institutions ("Organizations" or "Customers").

In delivering our Services, Makomly generally functions as a data processor (or service provider) acting upon the direct instructions of our client Organizations. When an individual congregant, donor, ticket purchaser, or member interacts with Makomly, their personal data is collected and managed under the direction and privacy practices of the respective synagogue or institution. This Privacy Policy also governs information collected directly from visitors to our marketing website (makomly.com) and authorized administrators who configure and use the Services.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on your relationship with Makomly and our client Organizations, we collect the following categories of information:

A. Information Provided by Synagogue Administrators

When an Organization registers for Makomly or books a demonstration, we collect administrative user information such as names, administrative email addresses, phone numbers, synagogue name, community size, and current accounting or CRM software.

B. Information Collected on Behalf of Synagogues (Congregants & Members)

When congregants use Makomly to reserve sanctuary seats, purchase event tickets, donate, or register for community programs, we process information including:

  • Contact Details: First and last name, email address, postal address, and telephone number.
  • Family & Household Information: Family relationships, household member names, and seating assignments.
  • Synagogue & Cultural Data: Hebrew names, Yahrzeit dates, bar/bat mitzvah information, and community affiliations submitted during event registration.
  • Event & Transactional Data: Registrations, dietary restrictions, childcare notes, ticket quantities, and contribution amounts.

C. Automatically Collected Technical Data

When you access our website or application, our servers automatically log certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type and version, device identifier, operating system, pages visited, timestamps, and referring URLs. We may utilize standard session cookies to keep administrators securely authenticated and maintain essential application state.

3. QuickBooks Online & Intuit Data Protection

Makomly provides an authorized integration with Intuit QuickBooks Online via Intuit's official APIs to automate member-level transaction reconciliation. We adhere strictly to Intuit's Developer Terms of Service and data protection standards.

Scope of QuickBooks Online API Access

When an authorized synagogue administrator connects Makomly to their QuickBooks Online company file, Makomly accesses only the data required to facilitate accounting synchronization, including:

  • Customer Records: Member and family customer profiles in QuickBooks Online (names, email addresses, billing addresses, and QuickBooks Customer IDs) to match incoming payments to individual member sub-ledgers.
  • Sales & Transaction Records: Invoices, Sales Receipts, Payments, Credit Memos, and Refund Receipts generated by member dues, ticket purchases, and donations.
  • Chart of Accounts & Classes: Revenue accounts, bank accounts, and class tracking identifiers configured by the synagogue to properly categorize income (e.g., Nursery School, Building Fund, High Holiday Seating).

Limited Use & Strict Prohibition on the Sale of Intuit Data

Data accessed through the QuickBooks Online API is used solely to provide, maintain, and support the synchronization functionality requested by the synagogue. Specifically:

  • No Sale or Licensing: Makomly does not sell, lease, rent, license, or disclose Intuit user data or QuickBooks financial records to any third party for commercial gain, marketing, or advertising.
  • No Advertising or Profiling: We do not use QuickBooks Online data to build advertising profiles, train public generative models, or target third-party advertisements.
  • OAuth Security: Integration authentication is handled via industry-standard OAuth 2.0. Access and refresh tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256 and never exposed in client-side code.

Disconnection & Data Purging

Synagogue administrators may revoke Makomly's access to QuickBooks Online at any time, either directly from the Makomly admin settings or via the Intuit App Center / QuickBooks Online account management portal. Upon disconnection, Makomly immediately halts API calls to QuickBooks. To request the deletion of any cached synchronization records, organizations may email privacy@makomly.com.

4. Payment Processing (Stripe Connect)

Payment processing services for Makomly (including dues payments, ticket purchases, High Holiday seating reservations, and donations) are provided by Stripe, Inc. through Stripe Connect.

Makomly never collects, handles, or stores full payment card numbers, card expiration dates, or CVV/CVC security codes. All payment card data is entered into secure, PCI-DSS Level 1 certified fields hosted directly by Stripe.

Stripe provides Makomly with tokenized identifiers, payment status indicators (e.g., successful charge, refund, card brand, last 4 digits), and payout records required to display transaction receipts to members and sync matching records to QuickBooks Online. You can review Stripe's Privacy Policy at stripe.com/privacy.

5. How We Use Information

We use the personal and transactional data we process for the following lawful business purposes:

  • Providing the Services: Rendering 2D sanctuary seating diagrams, preventing seat double-booking, issuing event confirmations, facilitating member portal directories, and processing dues.
  • Automated Bookkeeping: Creating and reconciling member-level transaction entries, invoices, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.
  • Customer Support & Communication: Responding to administrator and congregant support requests, troubleshooting technical issues, and sending transactional notifications (e.g., receipt confirmations).
  • Security & Fraud Prevention: Monitoring application integrity, preventing unauthorized access or fraud, and maintaining audit logs.
  • Legal Compliance: Meeting our accounting, tax, regulatory, and legal obligations under applicable law.

6. Information Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties.

We only disclose information in the limited scenarios described below:

  • To the Synagogue / Organization: All member registrations, ticket selections, and payment histories are shared with the specific Organization hosting the event or managing the membership.
  • Authorized Service Providers: We share data with vetted third-party vendors who assist us in operating our platform, subject to strict confidentiality and security agreements:
    • Cloud hosting, compute, and database infrastructure (Amazon Web Services).
    • Payment processing (Stripe Connect).
    • Accounting software API partners (Intuit QuickBooks Online, upon customer connection).
    • Transactional email and customer communication providers.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, subpoena, or governmental regulation, or if we determine in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Makomly, our users, or the public.
  • Business Transfers: If Bright Sight Ventures LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that corporate transaction, with prior notice provided where required by law.

7. Data Security & Storage

We employ administrative, physical, and technical safeguards designed to protect personal and financial data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Encryption in Transit

All data transmitted between your browser, our servers, and third-party APIs is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.2 or TLS 1.3).

Encryption at Rest

Database storage, customer records, and OAuth integration tokens are encrypted at rest using industry-standard AES-256 encryption.

While we implement robust safeguards consistent with industry best practices, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

8. Retention & Deletion Rights

We retain personal data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, support the ongoing contractual relationship with the client synagogue, satisfy legal and accounting requirements, and resolve disputes.

Because Makomly acts as a service provider to synagogues, individual congregants seeking to access, correct, or delete information maintained on behalf of their synagogue should generally direct their request to their synagogue administrator.

Synagogue administrators or individuals may also contact us directly at privacy@makomly.com to request data export, modification, or deletion. We will review and respond to all verified requests within thirty (30) days in accordance with applicable law.

9. Children's Privacy

Our marketing site and administrator interfaces are intended strictly for adults and authorized organizational representatives. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 years of age.

To the extent an Organization collects family or minor information (such as Hebrew school or youth program registrations) through our platform, such information is collected under the direct supervision, consent, and instruction of the parent, guardian, or authorized synagogue administrator in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

10. Your Privacy Rights & Choices

Depending on your location and jurisdiction (including California, Texas, and other U.S. states with applicable consumer privacy laws), you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to Know / Access: Request details regarding the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected about you.
  • Right to Correction: Request that inaccurate or outdated personal information be corrected.
  • Right to Deletion: Request the deletion of personal information, subject to statutory retention exceptions.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: You will not receive discriminatory treatment from us for exercising any of your privacy rights.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@makomly.com.

11. Updates to This Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our Services, integration partner guidelines, technology, or legal requirements. When updates are published, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

If we make material changes to how we collect, use, or disclose personal data, we will provide notice through our website or directly to registered synagogue account administrators.
